Stripers Hitting Topwater-Simrad GO XSE Clear Screen

Benjamin Nawrocki and I meet at Sandy Point State Park at 7:00 am Monday. He wanted to learn how to light tackle fish for striped bass and also have his Simrad GO9 XSE Fishfinder/Chartplotter set up. He had many questions about his new unit and light tackle fishing.

Topwater popping was our first choice as we pulled up to the first structure. Once a Stillwater Smack-It Yellow-Silver hit the water Benjamin started the retrieve on a 3 swift pops, stop for half second, 3 swift pops cadence. All of a sudden a nice striper busted topwater, and after a good fight, was landed. Benjamin started off learning light tackle techniques the best way possible, by catching a fish.

By the end of the day Benjamin had caught fish using these light tackle techniques; topwater popping, horizontal and vertical jigging soft plastic baits and spoons.
His Simrad GO9 XSE CHIRP Fishfinder/Chartplotter is now set up, and Benjamin has a full understanding of how to operate this fine unit.

If you are having trouble understanding or operating your fishfinder/chartplotter, please allow me to make any adjustments, and to have you operating this unit before the end of your trip.
