Wintertime Fishing

This past Sunday was cold and the catching was slow. Billy Mellendick, Jeff Brooks, and I went pickerel fishing close to home.
We were using light spinning tackle and casting lures. The water temperature was 39.4 degrees, so the lures had to be worked slow. I was fortunate enough to land the first pickerel which measured in at 21". This fish jumped once and cleared topwater by 8 inches during a spectacular fight.

This pickerel was landed on a 5 foot ultra-light spinning rod, a small spinning reel spooled with 10# Berkley NanoFil Uni-Filament Fishing Line and a 8# fluorocarbon leader. The lure was a Yamamoto, 4" Single Tail Grub rigged on a 1/16 ounce black jighead. Thanks Billy for taking me on another enjoyable fishing trip.
I will be teaching a 2 Part Lecture Series at CCBC, Essex Campus on March 25th and April 1st, 2017. Total Cost $59.00 Sign Up Info / Agenda
