Topwater Action!

Brendan Mulholland and I met at Sandy Point State Park on Saturday at 7am. He had fond memories of Sandy Point from the times he fished the Chesapeake Bay with his dad. We both felt that the State of Maryland did an outstanding job on the design and construction of this spectacular Park.

We needed to be south 15 miles or so by 7:45am to catch the flood current at its peak flow. We did see plenty of blitzing stripers, but from fishing them last week, they were probable dinks. To catch the topwater action with a larger school of stripers, we kept on course until we arrived at our destination.

It didn't take Brendan long to start landing some nice stripers on topwater.

On the way in we stopped at the Western Rockpile to see if any stripers were around and hitting topwater...no such luck. It was a great trip and Brendan was a pleasure to guide.
