Good Friend and Topwater Catching - It Doesn't Get Any Better Than That!

I received a call last week from a good fishing buddy, Bill Johnson, and I could tell he was excited. "Tom, I haven't seen this in the past 4 years - nice size stripers busting topwater above the Bridge".  Now I'm excited, especially after we made a plan to fish together the following day.

We met at 10:30am and headed northeast on the Chesapeake Bay. Ebb (outgoing) current was predicted to start moving swiftly at 11:30 am until 03:00pm. It was doing just that as we circled a large flock of blitzing seagulls.  On my first cast of the day I landed a keeper size striper that was healthy, hard fighting, and somewhat chubby for this time of year. Bill was also catching some nice size stripers on a casting spoon.

It was cloudy most of the day and we left the biting fish at 04:00pm.  Thanks Bill for asking me on such a productive fishing trip.
