I had the pleasure of fishing with Lee, and his son Eddie, on the Gunpowder River in Joppatowne, MD this past Sunday. We were looking for some crappies or yellow perch this trip. Unfortunately it was a slow day with only a few small yellow perch being caught, along with 2 largemouth bass.
As you can see, Eddie was overwhelmed with pride of the largemouth bass he caught on a 6" chartreuse pepper plastic worm, rigged with a 1/8 ounce split-shot. He was using an ultra light tackle rod, and casting at pier pilings. All of a sudden I hear him say, "I got one, it's a bass, it's a bass". I saw his rod bend deeply as the bass ran under the boat heading toward deep water. Eddie finally got control of the situation. He brought the bass back under the boat to where he could land it.
"I told you dad, that I could catch a bass back here" Eddie said. Lee was again a proud father as he gave Eddie the thumbs up.
We went to fish other structures, but the wind picked up, and Eddie had stopped fishing because he was tired and hungry! For a 16 year old angler that can be devastating, being hungry that is. Our next stop was a nearby Windy's where everyone had plenty to eat and drink as we swapped fish stories.
A proud father and son
I'm giving you a fair warning Eddie, get plenty of sleep, eat healthy, because before you know it, we'll be up on the Susquehanna River or Flats, hunting for those 50" plus stripers during March. We'll be using medium heavy spinning and bait-casting rod and reels, casting big lures to catch big stripers.
wow i can understand your feeling on this success. this trip must be your one of the best trip.
